SPNL introduce migratory birds to the ACS students

As part of theĀ Responsible Hunting activities, the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL), organized an educational seminar to the students of The American Community School at Beirut (ACS) about the migrating birds, In the presence of chief editor of “Hunting Magazineā€ and director of Middle East Center for Responsible Hunting in SPNL Adonis-Khatib.

Maher Ousta the director ofĀ Responsible Hunting department in “Hunting Magazineā€ told the student that the migratory birds which breed in Europe and central and western Asia follow traditional routes south across, or around, the Mediterranean during their autumn migration in order to reach their wintering grounds, and use similar routes in reverse on their return journeys in the spring.
ā€œMany migrants (especially waterbirds) stop and over-winter along the North African coast; but many other species continue further south to winter in sub-Saharan Africa. These migrations are vital to the survival of these species, and the migration flyways passing through this region are arguably the most important in the worldā€ Ousta added.
This event is part of the SPNL educational program SNOW- School with No Walls ,which aims to raise awareness about the Hima IBAs and KBA, species and ecosystems through the hands on program, and learning through fun.
