Conservation activist from Kamed El Lawz rescues bird of prey and hands it over to APU

A conservationist from the Kamed El-Louz area in the western Bekaa handed over a bird of prey he had rescued to the Anti-Poaching Unit (APU). The APU is part of the Middle East Sustainable Hunting Center (MESHC), which is affiliated with the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL), and works with the international Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS).
The bird was received by APU member Kamal Agha for treatment and rehabilitation, in order for it to be released in the wild once more.
The APU had established the wounded birds rescue department to emphasize the effective role of responsible hunters in protecting nature and safeguarding their pastime and their ability to cooperate with conservationists to achieve practical goals in the conservation of biodiversity.
It is worth noting that the Middle East Center for Sustainable Hunting is implementing, with the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon, Birdlife International’s Lebanon partner, a number of projects specialized in protecting migratory birds, including the Migratory Soaring Birds Project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Egyptian Vulture New Life project funded by the European Union, as well as the Safe Flyways project funded by the Swiss MAVA Foundation.
