SPNL bird monitoring trainings set to begin

If you enjoy bird watching and want to combine that interest with helping protect birds and habitats, you’re in luck. A multitude of training opportunities and monitoring events are set to kick off this spring at various locations along Lebanese Hima. No experience necessary, just a love of our bird populations.
A training exercise organized today in Hammana – Mount Lebanon for Homat El Hima has started in an aim to improve the bird watching experience in Lebanon, in preparation for a busy schedule this summer including international delegations.

Led by Lebanese expert birder Andree Bechara, the Homat El Hima will be trained on bird watching techniques, photography, ringing, breeding biology, tourism, and presentation.
Speaking at the training, Bechara said Lebanon is rich in biodiversity hotspots including its bird species and their habitats.
He added that “There are quite a few designated sites for birding, and you will be in awe to watch the different species soaring high in the sky. With this training, we want to improve the quality of bird watching experiences in Lebanon and earn more from avitourism.”
