SPNL is shortlisted to receive CSR Levant Award 2015

Lebanon will host the first CSR Levant Summit to be held on 15-17 April 2015 at ESA Business School (École supérieure des affaires) in Beirut.

Under the Patronage of H.E. Boutros Harb, Minister of Post and Telecommunications in Lebanon, the CSR Levant 2015 Summit, sponsored by telecom operator Alfa , will focus on building socially responsible practices that drive community development and empower Lebanon and Levant’s youth.

Commenting on the event Hoda Abdelhay, Conference Director at Informa, the organizer of CSR Levant said “We are very pleased to bring this 12 year legacy from Dubai to Lebanon with the CSR Levant Summit, recognizing the importance of developing the local community through building effective and impactful CSR practices”.

A highlight of the agenda is the CSR Levant Awards which recognize the best socially responsible programmes and organisations among the regional community. Led by an expert judging panel of multi-stakeholders ranging from NGOs and corporates to universities and internationals, the final winner of the awards will be announced at the event on 15 April.

The organizer of the event announced that The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) is among the shortlisted candidates to receive the CSR Levant Award under the category “Best NGO/NPO”.

CSR Levant is part of the successful CSR and sustainability event series that take place in Dubai and GCC for the past 12 years. As corporate social responsibility is increasingly becoming on top of the national agenda in Lebanon, it is critical to identify the areas in need of development in the community.

CSR Levant 2015 will gather leading representatives of corporate organisations, NGOs, foundations, universities and ministries from across the Levant and around the world, who will discuss topics including how to build corporate social responsibility functions in organisations to drive community development, strengthen education delivery and empower youth. Job creation and linking education with CSR are other key topics on the agenda.

Telecom operator, Alfa , managed by Orascom Telecom, is supporting the CSR Levant Summit as the Official Telecom Sponsor. Packed with three days of interactive learning and stakeholder networking, the agenda of the summit features key topics on green banking, linking CSR to the core business, fostering social entrepreneurship and CSR value creation among others.

The panel of speakers includes some of the Lebanon’s most distinguished CSR practitioners along with experts from regional and global organizations. University representatives will play a leading role in the Summit, including Stéphane Attali the Director General at the ESA Business School, Omaya Kuran the Director of Career Services Center Office of Students Affairs at the University of Balamand (UOB) and Dr. Dima Jamali the Associate Dean for Faculty and Professor at the American University of Beirut – Olayan School of Business.
