Why now?

Many local communities, especially in the South of Lebanon, villages close to the borders, are facing war, and they are affected by the current situation. The moving of local communities to other regions, like Mount Lebanon and Bekaa, is also putting pressure on the villages’ resources. Turning this tragedy into an opportunity we will be able to help in creating nature-loving activities through trails such as hiking, and bird watching.

What is “Droub Al Hima”?
Droub Al Hima is a nature-based program that aims to link different Hima’s together by passing through
ancient, historical, natural, etc… paths to enlighten the uniqueness and biodiversity of each village in Lebanon.
Vision: Connect all Himas through already found trails that our ancestors used as paths of transportation.
Mission: Maintain and identify the uniqueness of each village, Highlight each village’s special sites.

Objectives:
Our main objective is to work for peace, nature and people.
Adopting a trail will lead to achieve these 3 goals:
Peace: through contributing in creating a trail you will be helping in linking two villages together and bypass the conflict resolution that is found in Lebanon.
Nature:  A trail is one of the most proven ways that helps in limiting fires since you will have the access to the burning area in the fastest way possible.
Securing and taking care of biodiversity (fauna, flora) will be achieved.
People: People will find new job opportunities and enhance their income through trainings for guiding.
People will be encouraged to open new businesses such as guesthouses.
More people will visit the village which leads to more income.
