Developing an ecosystem services assessment followed by a comprehensive economic valuation of identified ecosystem services

Do you know the economic benefits of protecting nature? Seen here are two generations of farmers in Hima Ain Zebdeh, West Bekaa, discussing their traditional agricultural practices as part of Lebanon’s cultural and natural heritage, and the importance of sustainably using those practices for the benefit of people’s livelihoods and nature. The discussion also tackled the main challenges facing farmers nowadays, and ways to overcome them.
AMNC partner, Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon is developing an ecosystem services assessment followed by a comprehensive economic valuation of identified ecosystem services, for pilot sites in Mount Lebanon, where all provisioning, supporting, regulatory and cultural services will be assessed. If you’d like to learn about this work or other AMNC projects, please write to us at in**@**************re.org.
