In a powerful tribute to cultural enrichment and local heritage, a foundation stone ceremony was held for the upcoming Mounira Hajar Library and Literary Museum. The event brought together civic leaders, cultural advocates, and local residents in a celebration of community-driven development.
The ceremony was organized by the Municipality of Souk El Gharb, in collaboration with Friends of Mounira Hajar, the Women’s Association for the Development of Souk El Gharb (SEGWA), and Soulaf Kanaan, Head of the organizing committee. The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Minister Dr. Kamal Shehadeh, represented by General Manager Ahmad Mahmoud.
Among the distinguished attendees were Rami Kadro, Manager of MLHC, and Andre Bechara, Program Manager of SNOW, who joined other community members in laying the foundation stone for the institution, which aims to become a beacon of knowledge, literature, and historical preservation in the region.
“This initiative embodies the spirit of Souk El Gharb—rooted in heritage and propelled by education and culture,” said Soulaf Kanaan. “The Mounira Hajar Library and Literary Museum will serve as a cultural landmark, nurturing future generations with the legacy of one of our most respected literary figures.”
The project highlights the community’s commitment to fostering cultural awareness and providing accessible literary resources for all.
