As part of the AIM Summer Camp activities at AIM Academy Aley, a group of enthusiastic campers embarked on an unforgettable journey to حمى بيصور – درب التلة (Hima Bissour – Darb Al-Talleh), where they immersed themselves in Lebanon’s natural beauty and ecological heritage. The day-long excursion offered not only a breathtaking hike through lush landscapes but also an opportunity for environmental education, reflection, and hands-on conservation.
Guided by Mr. Hamada Malaeb, the dedicated guardian of this natural trail, campers learned about the rich biodiversity of the area, including its diverse tree species, plant life, and local ecosystems. As they wandered along the scenic path, Mr. Malaeb shared the history of Hima Bissour and underscored the critical importance of protecting its unique environment. His passion and knowledge brought the trail to life, encouraging campers to observe with care, ask questions, and engage with nature on a deeper level.
The group was warmly welcomed by Mr. André Bchara, an environmental expert known for his work in bird conservation. He spoke to the campers about the wildlife native to the area, highlighting the vital role Lebanon plays as a habitat for migratory and resident bird species. His stories about bird migration patterns, nesting behaviors, and species at risk left a lasting impression on the young visitors, many of whom had never considered the delicate balance of life in the wild.
