Kayfoun Blossoms Again: A Town Reconnecting with Its Green Roots

Tucked away in the heart of Mount Lebanon, where rolling hills whisper stories of heritage and the valleys breathe life into the land, the town of Kayfoun is experiencing a quiet revival. Not through grand declarations, but through the steady work of its people—and the unwavering efforts of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL). Here, it’s not just trees that are growing… it’s hope.

Streets Reborn, A Garden Reimagined

The ongoing clean-up and rehabilitation efforts in Kayfoun have become a familiar sight. Day after day, the SPNL team, in coordination with the municipal council, works to beautify the town’s main streets, plant trees, and bring back the natural charm that urban life had slowly eroded.

At the heart of this initiative lies the Mount Lebanon Hima Center and the Qur’anic Garden, spaces where trees are planted—but knowledge and environmental values take root as well. The area has transformed into both an educational hub and a recreational space, allowing visitors and residents alike to reconnect with nature and rediscover the rich biodiversity that defines the region.

The Green Nursery: A Quiet Engine of Renewal

Behind the scenes, the town’s agricultural nursery hums with quiet determination. Seedlings are planted, cared for, and monitored by SPNL’s dedicated team. These small saplings will soon find their way to Kayfoun’s streets, parks, and public spaces.

Every tree planted is more than a decorative addition—it’s a living promise for a greener, cleaner, more sustainable future.

A Partnership Rooted in the Land

What’s happening in Kayfoun isn’t a seasonal project that ends with the planting season. It’s a long-term partnership between the people, the land, and the institutions committed to protecting it. SPNL and the municipal council understand that conserving biodiversity and enhancing the landscape starts with engaging the local community—making this initiative a model for other Lebanese towns to follow.

Where Hope Grows Like Trees

The simple act of planting a tree or cleaning a sidewalk may seem small, but in reality, it speaks volumes about a community’s belief in its land—and its future. In Kayfoun, hope is taking root once again… one sapling, one flower, one street at a time.
