School with no Walls for the Protection of Environment

SPNL, in partnership with NAFDA https://nafdalebanon.org/  , initiated a joint effort to raise awareness about environment, climate change, and sustainable hunting within various schools across Lebanon.

SPNL SNOW program (School with no Walls) was implemented at Rachaya public school, over the course of two days, for 160 students. Rachaya public School is a very dynamic and engaged school for the protection of environment.

Students, aged between 16 and 17 were introduced to several pillars within SNOW, namely bird importance, bird migration, sustainable hunting, and wildlife photography. Hands-on and outdoor activities complemented the indoor and theoretical sessions. Students also had the chance to work on “la fresque du climat” which SPNL is implementing in partnership with Air France, an activity raising awareness about climate change and the greenhouse effect.

Students were very engaged and learned among other topics how to use various equipment for bird watching such as binoculars and scopes.

In partnership with NAFDA, SPNL SNOW and HOMAT AL HIMA program will continue to be implemented in schools across Lebanon.

SNOW SPNL program is supported by EV NewLIFE project, which is funded by the EU.

Al Hima Magazine 5th Issue

This edition of Al Hima magazine weaves together inspiring stories of nature conservation and community resilience, highlighting how Lebanon is being stitched back to life—one Hima at a time. The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) continues its mission to preserve the country’s natural heritage by empowering local communities. A cornerstone of this effort is the BioConnect project, funded by the European Union, which has achieved three national firsts: Lebanon’s first natural park (Upper Matn), first geological park (Shouf-Jezzine), and first endowment Hima (Btekhnay).
