Strategic Partnership Between Ghadi and SPNL to Support “Hima” Scientifically and Medially

In a move that reflects their shared commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, Ghadi Association and the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) announce a strategic collaboration to highlight the importance of the “Hima” system and promote it through precise scientific research. This partnership aims to emphasize the vital role of the “Hima” system in preserving biodiversity and to provide sustainable media content that raises environmental awareness in Lebanon and the region.

Hima EcoMedia: Environmental Media in the Service of Sustainability

This collaboration comes as part of the “Hima EcoMedia” initiative launched by Ghadi Association, which is considered the world’s first sustainable media “Hima”. The initiative aims to integrate environmental media with field efforts to protect natural resources by delivering scientific coverage and awareness campaigns that highlight sustainable solutions for addressing climate change.

In this context, Fadi Ghanem, Chairman of the National Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Chairman of Ghadi News, emphasized that green media has become a crucial tool in tackling global environmental challenges. He reaffirmed that Ghadi News is committed to spreading environmental knowledge and fostering a culture of conservation by publishing accurate scientific reports and encouraging community engagement.

Assad Serhal, Director of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon, highlighted the importance of the “Hima” system as a sustainable community-based approach to managing natural resources. He explained that the partnership with Ghadi Association aims to scientifically document and strengthen “Hima” files, thereby enhancing international recognition of Lebanon’s leading role in environmental protection.

Objectives of the Partnership

  1. Preparing Scientific Reports for Each “Hima”

    • Collecting and analyzing scientific data on classified Hima areas to produce reliable reports that support environmental policies.
  2. Enhancing Media Coverage of Environmental Issues

    • “Ghadia News” will publish articles and investigations on the significance of the “Hima” system and its impact on local ecosystems.
  3. Organizing Joint Awareness Campaigns and Events

    • Including workshops, seminars, and educational programs to deepen local communities’ understanding of the importance of “Hima”.
  4. Engaging Key Environmental Stakeholders

    • Establishing partnerships with academic institutions and global environmental organizations to support research and awareness efforts.

Media Coverage and Dissemination

The outcomes of this collaboration will be disseminated through the media platforms of both organizations, particularly via Ghadi News, to ensure they reach the widest possible audience. Additionally, all information will be backed by credible scientific references to enhance accuracy and reliability.

Model for integrating media

This partnership between Ghadi Association and the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon serves as a model for integrating media with environmental action, creating a multiplied impact in efforts to protect nature. Through “Hima EcoMedia”, the concept of green media will be strengthened, making it an effective partner in promoting sustainability and protecting biodiversity for future generations.

Al Hima Magazine 5th Issue

This edition of Al Hima magazine weaves together inspiring stories of nature conservation and community resilience, highlighting how Lebanon is being stitched back to life—one Hima at a time. The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) continues its mission to preserve the country’s natural heritage by empowering local communities. A cornerstone of this effort is the BioConnect project, funded by the European Union, which has achieved three national firsts: Lebanon’s first natural park (Upper Matn), first geological park (Shouf-Jezzine), and first endowment Hima (Btekhnay).
