Water resources Protection in West Baalbeck region through Hima Approach

SPNL team visited West Baalbeck on Feb.11.2019. The meeting was heading Dr. Ibrahim nassar, president of the Municipality of West Baalbeck Union, Mr. Rida Dirani, Mayor of Qsarnaba Municipality, and Mr. Hussein Janbien, Mayor of Tamnine Al Fawqa Municipality. The meeting took place at the Municipality of West Baalbeck Union, Chmestar, to discuss progress of the SDC funded project “Empowering Local communities, for Water resources Protection in West Baalbeck region through Hima Approach.”

During the meeting, a trail connecting the ancient ruins of Qsarnaba and the ancient ruins of Tamnine Al Fawqa was highlighted with the mayors and SPNL team on GoogleEarth. The mayors also informed the team of the different landmarks along the trail. The aim of the trail is to promote tourism in the West Baalbek region and an awareness tool that will allow locals and students to see the rich nature of the West Baalbek region. The main visitors of the trail is agreed to be tourists, students, and locals to use while conserving the resources of the West Baalbek region. There will also be the appropriate signage implemented on this trail that will highlight the natural and cultural importance of the trail. As a start, the team walked part of the trail from the Qsarnaba Village to Tamnine El Fawqa Village along with the mayors having an overview of the beautiful landscape of the West Baalbeck Region.
