Sheikh Al-Aql Sheikh Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna met a delegation of environmental associations

His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql,Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna, met a delegation of environmental associations at the Community house – Beirut, including: Director General of the Society for the Protection of Nature SPNL and member of the global advisory board of Birdlife International Asaad Sarhal, President of the Lebanese Environmental Forum LEF Eng. Malik Ghandour, President of the Middle East Center for Sustainable Hunting Adonis Al-Khatib, representative of the Higher Matn Society for Environment and Sustainable Development Rifaat Makarim and director of the “Al-Matn” project Ras Al-Matn Refaat Nou He got up, and the delegation presented to His Eminence “the Hima project in the mountain region to launch under his auspices, with the aim of expanding the circle of those interested and linking the protected sites by the Hima Trail, exchanging experiences and products, encouraging eco-tourism, as well as moral support to generalize the idea of Hima sites on endowments, municipal and public properties, and the use of heritage houses as guest houses, and the protection of natural resources and birds.

The delegation also presented the C4C project which is shaped in line with the European Green Deal agenda and the Paris Agreement, the Climate for Cities (C4C) project aims to promote the transition towards greener and climate-resilient municipalities in the Southern Neighborhood, in line with countries’ commitments under the Paris Agreement.

C4C Lebanon will lead to (1) Implementing resource efficient and low carbon initiatives in the target municipalities, (2) Promoting green technology and behavioral changes at local level through hands-on awareness campaigns with schools, NGOs, youth, women, and households, (3) Capacity building of relevant stakeholders on green cities and natural resource management, and (4) Ensuring replication through strengthening the national framework for sub-national climate action and dissemination of lessons learned from the project and linking outcomes to Nationally Determined Contributions

Al Hima Magazine 7h Issue

The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon, SPNL, has officially released the seventh issue of Al Hima magazine, reaffirming its commitment to advancing community-led conservation and positioning Lebanon as a regional leader in nature-based solutions.
This latest edition comes at a critical moment for environmental action in Lebanon and the wider region, bringing together scientific insight, traditional knowledge, and global perspectives under the unifying theme: “From Ridge to Coast, One Hima at a Time.”
