Baysour Celebrates Nature: Eco-Hiking Event on the Hima Trail

In an atmosphere full of energy and community spirit, Baysour Hiking Group, in collaboration with The Progressive Youth Organization – Baysour Cell, organized a special eco-sports event along the Hima Trail in Baysour, one of the village’s most scenic natural landmarks. The event welcomed hiking enthusiasts of all ages to experience an exceptional journey through the stunning landscapes and forests of Baysour.

Minister Ghazi Aridi Joins the Walk

The event was marked by the distinguished participation of Minister Ghazi Aridi, a long-time supporter of environmental and development initiatives in Baysour and the surrounding region. His presence was both inspiring and symbolic, as he joined participants along the Hima Trail, emphasizing the importance of preserving the Hima, promoting eco-tourism, and adopting sustainable development practices in Lebanese villages.

The Hima Trail: Where Nature and Community Meet

The hike began early in the morning along the recently restored trail, rehabilitated through a joint effort with the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL). This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to protect biodiversity, raise environmental awareness, and engage local communities in safeguarding their natural resources.

The trail forms part of the broader Baysour Hima, a community-based conservation area aimed at involving residents, especially youth, in nature protection, while promoting outdoor education, eco-tourism, and sustainable rural development.

Dialogue Amidst Nature

Following the hike, participants gathered for an open dialogue in nature to discuss the importance of eco-trails, the crucial role of youth in protecting natural resources, and the potential of eco-tourism as an alternative and sustainable source of income for rural communities.

The conversations highlighted how such initiatives strengthen the bond between people and nature, foster community cooperation, and reinforce the collective responsibility to preserve Lebanon’s unique environmental heritage.

A Renewed Commitment and Youth-Driven Energy

This event was more than just a hiking trip — it was a celebration of community spirit, a testament to the dedication of Baysour’s youth, and a reminder of the village’s rich natural and cultural heritage. Through such initiatives, Baysour continues to set an example in promoting eco-tourism, sustainable development, and environmental stewardship.
