SPNL Advances Hima Conservation with Kfarselwen Municipality and Mount Knaiseh Adventure Club

The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) is pleased to announce a productive and inspiring meeting with Kfarselwen Municipality and the Mount Knaiseh Adventure Club, during which we introduced the Hima approach—a community-based model for nature conservation and sustainable land use.

The concept was met with strong interest and enthusiasm, signaling a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and opening the door for impactful collaborations in the region.

Building on this momentum, SPNL organized an introductory session for Homat Al Hima—an initiative dedicated to cultivating local environmental champions. The session welcomed 18 committed participants, marking the first step in a structured training program focused on local guiding and sustainable management practices, to be launched following the official signing of the Hima designation.

The day concluded with a field visit to Mount Knaiseh, where discussions centered around future projects to protect biodiversity, promote ecotourism, and empower local communities through nature-based initiatives.

This initiative reflects SPNL’s dedication to preserving Lebanon’s natural heritage and fostering a culture of conservation anchored in community leadership and participation.
