Homat Al Hima Undergo Specialized Ecotourism Training in Kfarselwan to Promote Sustainable Tourism and Conservation

Today, the Municipality of Kfarselwan hosted a vital training session for a group of Homat Al Hima, as part of a comprehensive capacity-building program focused on guiding skills and nature-based tourism. The training blends theoretical learning with practical, hands-on experience to empower local guardians of nature with the tools they need to lead in sustainable tourism.

Throughout the intensive session, participants showcased outstanding engagement, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to personal and professional growth. The program goes beyond technical guiding—it aims to instill a robust understanding of sustainable tourism practices and the pivotal role that local communities play in preserving natural and cultural heritage. These values lie at the heart of the Hima approach, a community-based conservation model championed across Lebanon and the region.

A key component of the session was dedicated to equipping the Homat Al Hima with the skills required to guide visitors along Douroub Al Hima—the eco-trails designed to foster responsible ecotourism, highlight local biodiversity, and offer meaningful visitor experiences rooted in community pride and ecological respect.

This ongoing initiative will continue to enhance the capabilities of Homat Al Hima, enabling them to lead eco-activities, support conservation projects, and represent their communities with professionalism and passion.

Hima Kfarselwan, in particular, plays a significant role in the vision for a future Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve in the High Metn, underscoring its critical importance for both environmental conservation and sustainable rural development.
