Joint Operation by APU, Ministry of Agriculture, and Internal Security Forces Removes Illegal Wildlife Trade Violations in Al-Labweh

Al-Labweh, Northern Beqaa – As part of ongoing efforts to protect wildlife and enforce environmental law, the Anti-Poaching Unit, in coordination with Dr. Abbas Al-Dairani, Director of the Agricultural Department in Baalbek-Hermel Governorate, the “Shaat Forest and Hunting Center,” and a patrol from the Internal Security Forces – Al-Labweh Station, conducted a field mission to remove violations related to the illegal trade of wild birds at two sites in the Al-Labweh area.

The operation was carried out in response to a documented complaint submitted by an environmental activist. Violations were identified, and legal action was taken against the offenders in accordance with the law.

During the mission, the team released healthy birds back into the wild, while injured birds were transferred to Dr. Didier Zanni, Head of the Unit’s Injured Bird Rescue Section, for treatment and rehabilitation prior to their re-release into their natural habitat.

The Anti-Poaching Unit reaffirms its full commitment to enforcing Lebanese and international environmental laws and urges citizens to support biodiversity protection by reporting any wildlife-related violations.
