Mava Leaders for Nature Academy First Face-to-Face Meeting

MAVA Leaders for Nature Academy is a leadership development programme for professionals from partner organizations of the MAVA Foundation. It brings together two generations of leaders – senior and young professionals. The Academy aims to develop leaders who can bring about positive change both within and across partner organizations to increase their sustainability and impact. The Academy will run each year for four years until 2022. Assad Serhal, Director General, and Shalimar Sinno, Project Coordinator, at SPNL have joined the first promotion of the academy that will run for a one year.

The programme has online and face-to-face meetings where participants get to experience, in person, the importance of working together, as well as continuing the learning online and remaining connected throughout the twelve months of the Academy.

Serhal, as a senior professional and Sinno, as a young professional were accepted into the academy and had their first face-to-face meeting with other professionals in Jordan. The meeting took place in Amman between July 9 and July 12. The meeting was mainly about introducing the participants and sharing with them separate activities to explore Leading Beyond Authority.

Al Hima Magazine 5th Issue

This edition of Al Hima magazine weaves together inspiring stories of nature conservation and community resilience, highlighting how Lebanon is being stitched back to life—one Hima at a time. The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) continues its mission to preserve the country’s natural heritage by empowering local communities. A cornerstone of this effort is the BioConnect project, funded by the European Union, which has achieved three national firsts: Lebanon’s first natural park (Upper Matn), first geological park (Shouf-Jezzine), and first endowment Hima (Btekhnay).
