Awareness session for Hunters in Mansoura Village

The Anti-Poaching Unit (APU) – in partnership with the Mansoura Municipality in the West Bekaa and its group of hunters, in coordination with the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) – held an awareness session on the importance of wetlands and their role in conserving biodiversity, especially waterfowl species, and the responsible hunter’s responsibility to conserve both nature and the pastime of hunting.
The session by a number of responsible hunters as well as members of the APU and other members of the MESHC and SPNL teams.

The session was characterized by constructive dialogue and participation, with emphasis on the fact that the responsible hunter is the first conservationist who is able to properly keep pace with and support any environmental project.
The Middle East Sustainable Hunting Center (MESHC) and the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL), which is Birdlife International’s Lebanon partner, are implementing a number of projects specialized in protecting migratory birds, including the Migratory Soaring Birds (MSB) Project funded by the Global Environment Forum (GEF), and the EV Vulture Project aimed at conserving the Egyptian Vulture, which is funded by the European Union, as well as the Safe Flyways Project for Birds in the Mediterranean, funded by the Swiss MAVA Foundation

Al Hima Magazine 5th Issue

This edition of Al Hima magazine weaves together inspiring stories of nature conservation and community resilience, highlighting how Lebanon is being stitched back to life—one Hima at a time. The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) continues its mission to preserve the country’s natural heritage by empowering local communities. A cornerstone of this effort is the BioConnect project, funded by the European Union, which has achieved three national firsts: Lebanon’s first natural park (Upper Matn), first geological park (Shouf-Jezzine), and first endowment Hima (Btekhnay).
