Baisour Hima: A Natural Jewel in Lebanon

Baisour Hima is one of Lebanon’s natural gems, a region rich in biodiversity and natural beauty that reflects the uniqueness of the Lebanese environment. Through joint efforts by the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL), the Municipality of Baisour, and the “Baisour Hiking Group,” pioneering steps have been taken to promote domestic tourism and achieve sustainable development.

The Eco-Friendly Concrete Bench Project

This initiative aims to enhance visitors’ experiences in Baisour Hima by installing concrete benches at strategic locations within the area. The project emerged as a result of fruitful coordination between SPNL, the Municipality of Baisour, and the Baisour Hiking Group. The objective was not only to improve the region’s infrastructure but also to provide comfort for visitors and encourage them to enjoy nature in a responsible and sustainable manner.

This project is a practical example of utilizing local resources to enhance domestic tourism. The presence of the benches enriches the hiking experience, encouraging families and groups to visit the area and explore its natural attractions. Additionally, this effort can contribute to creating economic opportunities for the local community by attracting more visitors.

Promoting Environmental Awareness and Conservation

The project’s goals extend beyond improving tourism; it also aims to raise environmental awareness and preserve natural resources. The benches were designed to minimize environmental impact, ensuring no harm to the ecosystems within the Hima. Awareness campaigns were organized in collaboration with the Baisour Hiking Group to encourage visitors to respect nature and interact with it with love and responsibility.

Baisour Hima is not just a natural space but a habitat for rare plant and animal species. These initiatives emphasize the importance of protecting this unique environment from encroachment and pollution. The sustainability of this Hima is a collective responsibility that requires collaboration between the local community, visitors, and official entities.

A Model for Local Partnerships and Sustainable Development

The coordination between SPNL, the Municipality of Baisour, and the Baisour Hiking Group highlights how local partnerships can have a positive impact on both the environment and the community.

Baisour Hima has become a model for promoting domestic tourism, sustainable development, and environmental awareness. It is essential to continue such initiatives to ensure the preservation of this natural heritage for future generations.
