Strengthening Volunteerism: Monthly Progress Report Highlights Key Efforts to Build Engagement

The Volunteering and Outreach Department, led by Amer Saidi, has issued the monthly technical report summarizing activities and accomplishments from December 25, 2024, to January 24, 2025, and this month marked a renewed focus on revitalizing the organization’s volunteering efforts and fostering meaningful community connections.

Key Focus: Revitalizing the Volunteering Department

In light of the organization’s 2025 strategy, significant attention has been directed toward re-activating and expanding the volunteering department. This initiative aims to enhance the organization’s capacity to engage with local communities while drawing on the energy and expertise of young volunteers.

Discussions are underway to explore strategic partnerships with nearby academic institutions, such as the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS). These collaborations are designed to tap into the vibrant student population and inspire a new wave of dedicated volunteers. The proximity of universities to SPNL’s Hima Center presents a unique opportunity to build a dynamic, community-driven network of individuals committed to the organization’s mission.

Looking Ahead

The team plans to host outreach events, information sessions, and volunteer recruitment drives at targeted institutions. The goal is to establish a sustainable pipeline of volunteers who will support the organization’s projects and bring fresh perspectives to its work.

Although current project development opportunities remain in the planning phase, the focus on volunteer engagement lays a strong foundation for future initiatives.

Al Hima Magazine 5th Issue

This edition of Al Hima magazine weaves together inspiring stories of nature conservation and community resilience, highlighting how Lebanon is being stitched back to life—one Hima at a time. The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) continues its mission to preserve the country’s natural heritage by empowering local communities. A cornerstone of this effort is the BioConnect project, funded by the European Union, which has achieved three national firsts: Lebanon’s first natural park (Upper Matn), first geological park (Shouf-Jezzine), and first endowment Hima (Btekhnay).
