Clean Up the Med 2017 campaign to protect the Mediterranean environment

As you know participation in environmental activities is extremely influential to change the world. We are all significant and valuable.

We would like to draw your attention about an appeal made by Legambiente during the 22th Marrakech Climate Change Conference in order to coordinate a ban on plastic carrier bags below 100 microns except bags for primary transport (i.e. fisheries) and biodegradable and compostable certified EN 13432 or ISO 14855.

This is a crucial step to safeguard our Mediterranean Sea, which is polluted by macro and micro plastic and plastic patches all over the Basin. Moreover plastic bags cause the death of several marine species such as sea turtles and cetaceans.

If you want to get involved, take action and participate at the Clean Up the Med 2017 campaign to protect the Mediterranean environment and its creatures.

Legambiente will send you for free, a colourful brochure which can be used as poster or information material (English and French).

When: On the 26-27-28th of May 2017 along the Mediterranean beaches and coast locations, volunteers from different countries and religions, will clean up both urban coasts and marine reserves.

Where: all over the Mediterranean Basin.

Why: the main goal of the Clean Up The Med 2017 Campaign is to raise awareness about plastic and litter pollution along the Med coasts and sea bottoms. In 2017 the campaign aims to pull institutions to ban plastic bags.
