Today, as part of the Droub Al Hima program, SPNL had the pleasure of welcoming a group known as مجموعة مهاياما to Hima Baisour – Darb Al Talle. This visit was an excellent opportunity to showcase the unique biodiversity of the area and the significance of our ongoing conservation efforts.
The day began with an engaging hike along Darb Al Talle, where participants experienced firsthand the natural beauty and ecological diversity that make this trail so special. The serene landscapes and the vibrant flora and fauna offered an immersive connection to nature, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.
As the group walked through the trail, SPNL team members provided an insightful brief about the historical and ecological importance of linking hiking trails to ancient and local passages of the Hima. These passages hold significant cultural and environmental value, as they not only preserve the heritage of the region but also create opportunities for sustainable tourism and community engagement. By highlighting the interconnection between nature, history, and culture, the group gained a deeper understanding of how Droub Al Hima initiatives are designed to protect and promote these unique assets.
The hike continued to the Biblical Garden, one of the gems of the Hima Baisour area. Here, the group had the chance to learn about SPNL’s Endangered Species Program, which is dedicated to conserving vulnerable species that are at risk of extinction. This program underscores SPNL’s commitment to fostering biodiversity and ensuring the survival of Lebanon’s precious natural heritage. The garden provided an ideal setting to discuss these efforts while giving the group an up-close view of the plants and wildlife being safeguarded.
Following the hike and garden visit, participants were introduced to SPNL’s broader programs and initiatives. A brief overview highlighted SPNL’s mission to promote sustainable development through the revival of the Hima approach—a traditional community-based conservation model that empowers local communities to manage their natural resources. The group learned about the ways SPNL integrates environmental protection, cultural heritage, and community development to create a sustainable and inclusive framework for conservation.
Throughout the day, the participants shared their enthusiasm for the experience. The natural beauty of the trail, the informative discussions, and the warm hospitality left a lasting impression on the group. They expressed their appreciation for the efforts being made to protect and preserve such an important area and conveyed their eagerness to explore more of SPNL’s trails in the future.
The positive feedback from مجموعة مهاياما reflects the success of the Droub Al Hima program in fostering awareness, appreciation, and engagement with Lebanon’s rich natural and cultural heritage. This visit not only strengthened the connection between people and nature but also highlighted the potential of sustainable tourism as a tool for conservation and community development. SPNL looks forward to welcoming more groups to Hima Baisour and continuing its mission to protect Lebanon’s biodiversity while promoting the Hima ethos.
