For decades, many wetlands in the Mediterranean have been degraded or destroyed, so action is urgently needed to restore them. With the aim of identifying wetlands that are being restored or that need to be restored in the Mediterranean countries, WWF Spain, in collaboration with Tour du Valat, MedWet, MedSea and the PIM Initiative, and in the framework of a project funded by the MAVA Foundation, conducted an online survey in December. On the occasion of the World Wetlands Day 2021 we are re-launching the survey in order to reach a larger audience. We invite you to complete the online survey and also to circulate it through your contacts and social networks, encouraging them to participate in order to obtain the maximum number of responses. You will find the questionnaire here:We anticipate that the questionnaire will take only five minutes of your time and we would appreciate it if you can complete it by 15th March 2021.
This edition of Al Hima magazine weaves together inspiring stories of nature conservation and community resilience, highlighting how Lebanon is being stitched back to life—one Hima at a time. The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) continues its mission to preserve the country’s natural heritage by empowering local communities. A cornerstone of this effort is the BioConnect project, funded by the European Union, which has achieved three national firsts: Lebanon’s first natural park (Upper Matn), first geological park (Shouf-Jezzine), and first endowment Hima (Btekhnay).
