A meeting was held last month between Birdlife CEO Marco Lambertini, BirdLife Middle East Director Ibrahim Khader, and Assad Serhal Director General of SPNL and Birdlife Global Councilor. The result was an agreement on a plan forward towards Birdlife presence in Qatar in cooperation with Friends of the Environment Center, and for this Assad Serhal will be delegated as Birdlife Special Envoy to the country.

The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) continues its mission to preserve the country’s natural heritage by empowering local communities. A cornerstone of this effort is the BioConnect project, funded by the European Union, which has achieved three national firsts: Lebanon’s first natural park (Upper Matn), first geological park (Shouf-Jezzine), and first endowment Hima (Btekhnay).
