Birds Alive educational competition

Spring Alive is an international campaign organized by OTOP, the BirdLife partner in Poland, to encourage children’s interest in nature and the conservation of migratory birds and to get them to take action for birds and other wildlife.

This year Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon – SPNL, and under the Spring Alive campaign, decided to launch an online educational competition “Birds Alive” for children between 7 and 13 years, in order to spread awareness and deliver educational content in a challenging frame that suits the current world wide health situation.

The competition consisted of educational quizzes and weekly multidisciplinary challenges tailored to be executed at home due to the critical health situation of COVId-19. The main themes of Birds Alive’s competition were birds, bird migration, and conservation actions that children can do for the well-being of Biodiversity.

The results were creative and reflected a special connection that children have established with nature while being safe at home.

Al Hima Magazine 5th Issue

This edition of Al Hima magazine weaves together inspiring stories of nature conservation and community resilience, highlighting how Lebanon is being stitched back to life—one Hima at a time. The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) continues its mission to preserve the country’s natural heritage by empowering local communities. A cornerstone of this effort is the BioConnect project, funded by the European Union, which has achieved three national firsts: Lebanon’s first natural park (Upper Matn), first geological park (Shouf-Jezzine), and first endowment Hima (Btekhnay).
