The society for protection of nature in Lebanon (SPNL) will participate in the European Heritage Days which will take palce in Paris, on 20-21 September 2014. The event Titles “Cultural and Natural Heritage Days” will include a preserved animals farm, the Ecancourt farm, with rare goat species and other animals. With the generous support of UN Women Fund for Gender Equality (UNW FGE) SPNL launched a special edition of SPNL Magazine celebrating the organization’s 30th anniversary. Founding members Ramzi Kamel Saidi and Assad Adel Serhal wrote an editorial titled ” THREE DECADES FOR NATURE AND PEOPLE”

Coping with Water Crisis
Through the generous funding of the USAID- OTI Lebanon project , SPNL in collaboration with the municipality of Anjar and Anjar Water Users Association (WUA) started the project “Safe Guarding Agriculture Based Economy in Anjar”. The following project has a three month duration, where it aims to support the community of Anjar ,especially farmers in coping with the water crisis of 2014.
As a part of the project ”Restoring Hima Ecosystem functions through promoting sustainable community -based water management systems “in Hima Anjar- Kfar Zabad IBA” Funded by MAVA foundation, SPNL organized a two day training workshop on the sustainable management of water resources in relation to agriculture productivity through water and soil monitoring
Recently SPNL launched a social media campaign to save birds during autumn migration season 2014 using the following hashtags: #Lebanon #Toyourna #Birds. The slogan of the campaign is : “Don’t kill migrating birds”.
