The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) continues implementing its training program within the framework of the “Hima Trails” initiative, in collaboration with Baysour Municipality and Lebanese Red Cross, under the title “First Aid Awareness Campaign.” The initiative aims to strengthen participants’ capacities and enhance preparedness and rapid response during environmental and sports activities along natural trails.
This training comes as part of an integrated vision that combines nature conservation, visitor safety, and local community development. Participants receive both practical and theoretical training on basic first aid principles and emergency response mechanisms that may be required during outdoor activities, particularly on hiking trails and Hima routes spread across various Lebanese regions.
The course covers several key topics, including how to deal with minor injuries, wounds, fractures, heat exhaustion, and cases of unconsciousness, in addition to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and rapid emergency intervention, ensuring the safety of participants and visitors during environmental activities.
The initiative is not limited to the health and safety aspect alone, but is also accompanied by a range of environmental and sports activities, most notably hiking, which is considered an essential activity that promotes physical and mental well-being while supporting sustainable eco-tourism and encouraging people to explore Lebanon’s natural and cultural trails.
Participation in hiking activities also offers an opportunity to strengthen the connection between people and nature, raise awareness about the importance of preserving biodiversity and natural resources, and support the local economy by promoting rural tourism and benefiting from trail-related local services.
This type of training program reflects the commitment of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL), in partnership with Baysour Municipality and the Lebanese Red Cross, to building a more aware and prepared community capable of combining personal safety, outdoor activities, and environmental protection within a sustainable development framework that serves both nature and people.
