We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to this man of few words, decisive action and unswerving commitment and his love for art and nature. It is said by artists and critics alike that the most important collections of art in the world are amassed not by museum committees or panels of jurors but by individuals. And moreover, that such collections tell you as much about the collector as the works of art collected. The ‘Summit for the Flyways’ conference on bird migration and conservation, organized by BirdLife International and hosted by the Abu Dhabi-based International Fund for Houbara Conservation, IFHC, began three days of discussions. A new foundation for the conservation of raptors (birds of prey) has been established by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, it has been announced. Mava organized for its Mediterranean project coordinators a training workshop on the monitoring and evaluation of the outcome action plans (M1_2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7 OAPs). The two days training workshop was held in Mava headquarter offices in Gland, Switzerland. Mava M6 steering committee meeting was held in Cordoba, Spain particularly in one of the Dehesas included in the Dehesa/Montado pilot site project. The Barbara municipality launched a new environmental initiative to free Lebanese Partridge to nature. Birds don’t belong in cages or in our homes, and the Barbara municipality is proving that a lot can be done to protect the wild birds.
