The Director General of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon or SPNL, Assad Serhal, was nominated for theĀ Midori PrizeĀ for his work to advance nature conservation within his homeland of Lebanon, working tirelessly for pragmatic win-win solutions that are equally good for nature and people.
As part of the Mava Shouf Project, āBuilding the ecologic and socio-economic resilience of the Shouf Mountain Landscape by restoring and strengthening the socio-cultural fabric which sustains its biodiversity and cultural valuesā, SPNL is looking for enthusiastic college graduates with a scientific background to be working as volunteers/interns on the scientific component of the project precisely on the monitoring ofĀ indicators of biodiversity and eco-cultural values of healthy agro-silvo-pastoral socio-ecosystems in the Shouf landscape and specifically in West Bekaa region.

Several meetings with the municipalities of Hima Kherbet Kanafar, Ain Zebdeh, and Aitanit took place between May and June, 2018 in order to explain to the relevant stakeholders about the scientific component of the project and specifically the monitoring of the selected biodiversity indicators that will take place for three consecutive years starting 2018 by the national experts .
On June 7 and 8, 2018, a joint workshop between the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) and Al-Shouf Cedar Society (ACS) about biodiversity monitoring was held in the Park House in Maaser Al Shouf.
SPNL Team had a meeting with Mrs. Claudine Aoun Roukoz. The aim of the meeting was to organize for the World Migratory Bird Day 2018 event. The event shall take place at the Presidential Palace in the first week of October.
