Assad Serhal Nominated for MIDORI Prize by Birdlife International

The Director General of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon or SPNL, Assad Serhal, was nominated for the Midori Prize for his work to advance nature conservation within his homeland of Lebanon, working tirelessly for pragmatic win-win solutions that are equally good for nature and people.

Intern-volunteer vacancy to monitor biodiversity of the Shouf and West Bekaa landscape

As part of the Mava Shouf Project, “Building the ecologic and socio-economic resilience of the Shouf Mountain Landscape by restoring and strengthening the socio-cultural fabric which sustains its biodiversity and cultural values”, SPNL is looking for enthusiastic college graduates with a scientific background to be working as volunteers/interns on the scientific component of the project precisely on the monitoring of indicators of biodiversity and eco-cultural values of healthy agro-silvo-pastoral socio-ecosystems in the Shouf landscape and specifically in West Bekaa region.

New call for Large and Small grants in the Mediterranean Basin

Selection of SPNL Monitoring Sites in West Bekaa Region- M6 Project

Several meetings with the municipalities of Hima Kherbet Kanafar, Ain Zebdeh, and Aitanit took place between May and June, 2018 in order to explain to the relevant stakeholders about the scientific component of the project and specifically the monitoring of the selected biodiversity indicators that will take place for three consecutive years starting 2018 by the national experts .

SPNL and ACS biodiversity monitoring workshop in Maaser Al Shouf

On June 7 and 8, 2018, a joint workshop between the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL) and Al-Shouf Cedar Society (ACS) about biodiversity monitoring was held in the Park House in Maaser Al Shouf.

SPNL Team had a meeting with Mrs. Claudine Aoun Roukoz. The aim of the meeting was to organize for the World Migratory Bird Day 2018 event. The event shall take place at the Presidential Palace in the first week of October.

SDC New Water Project in West Baalback Region

Project in SPNL, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), West Baalback Union of Municipalities, and the Bekaa Water Establishment have joined forces to initiate the Hima and Homat Al Hima approach for the sustainable water use and management in the West Baalbak Region.
